Orion Area Youth Assistance (OAYA) is seeking nominations for youth for our 32st Annual Youth Recognition Awards. We are excited to plan a ceremony in early May to celebrate our Award Winners. Date and location are to be determined based on the number of awards we present that evening. We once again have 3 categories for student nominees, the Good Citizen Award, Personal Achievement Award and Community Service Award.

Each year, Orion Area Youth Assistance sends dozens of youngsters to summer camp through a scholarship fund known as our "Sponsor A Camper" program. Funding includes an annual contribution of $5,000 from the Charter Township of Orion. This critically important program provides a wonderful camp experience to children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend camp.

OAYA receives applications from families who meet financial guidelines as well as referrals from school personnel and local leaders for students who could benefit from a summer camp experience. In the summer of 2023, OAYA provided over $9,000 in scholarship support for students to attend camps including those through Lake Orion Schools Enrichment Services, Orion Township Parks and Rec, Camp Wonder at the Howell Nature Center, and Oakland University

These camps provide many activities, including those that promote teamwork, leadership, and social skills.

NOTE

Scholarship requests will be filled on a first- come, first-serve basis, beginning
February 26, 2026. Forms must be returned via fax, email, or mailed or dropped off at the CERC building.
